New job, how much rent can I afford? [NYC]

Looking to be more financially aware and budget but NYC rents seems to assume everyone’s a millionaire.

TC: ~ $110,500

Biggest debt is ~$34,000 in federal student loans and I’m confident I can pay it off timely if I keep my budget in line. I have around $5,000 in revolving credit cards, but this will be paid in full in about 3 months before I move.

I’ve always dreamed of living in the city so my question is, what is the maximum rent you’d suggest I pay for a 1 bedroom apartment in Manhattan?
